Anna Lawrence
Anna Lawrence is an AHRC-funded PhD student in the Department of Geography at the University of Cambridge. Looking at plant-human relations from a historical perspective, she is investigating the socio-political lives of flowers in Victorian Britain. Grounded in Critical Plant Studies, Anna’s work is concerned with taking the plant as a model for a (bio)politically legible definition of Life, asking what we might learn from paying closer attention to our varied material and imaginative interactions with plant life, both in the past and the present. She is currently attempting to cultivate her own Victorian flower garden alongside an ever-growing collection of houseplants.
