Fabrizio Frascaroli

Fabrizio Frascaroli is an Italian ethno-ecologist specialising in the study of people-nature interactions in rural Italy - quite an ironic destiny for a child of the city who spent most of adult life away from his country of origin. A firm opponent of overspecialisation, he blends disparate disciplines, tools (from statistical methods to visual anthropology) and advocacy in his approach, at times struggling to convince others that this eclecticism is all part of a deliberate plan (which of course it is). A research associate at the University of Bologna and member of steering committees in international organisations such as IUCN and the Society for Conservation Biology, he recently co-founded the NGO Lòm to help promote interdisciplinary approaches and better understandings of local culture in Italy.
