Giorgia Tresca
Giorgia Tresca studied Social and Environmental Anthropology, pushed by an eagerness to learn about diverse ways of relating to the environment. Her undergraduate research investigated the role of family and political values in shaping food choices and practices in Sicilian restaurants. Since then, she has been involved in different projects for food sovereignty and sustainability. During extended travels in Peru, Giorgia became interested in the Amazonian traditions of plant spirits and healing and conducted ethnobotanical research for the Peruvian research center Takiwasi. Through her MSc research at the University of Kent, she developed this topic by investigating how Amazonian understandings of plant spirits are coming to life in Europe. Giorgia continues to explore the world of plants personally as well as academically, through reading, cooking, foraging, and observing plants.
